So I’m not dead. Just lazy – or maybe just burnt out…
It was a crazy push to get the endless list of little things done, but we finally finished the house a couple of weeks ago and literally the next day we were off to holiday with Ryan’s family. We were working so many hours, that I truly didn’t even think to take pictures to document the last bits of insanity, except Ryan snagged one when I wasn’t looking…
If we weren’t hauling rocks, we were tiling, or finishing some last-minute plumbing and don’t forget all the landscaping in the front/back yards. Oh! There’s still the last major clean before they can stage… Ahhhhh!!!!! I was terrified it wasn’t going to happen at all, since it took the granite company five tries to get the counters installed without crack/breaking the slab. In addition, we hadn’t even opened up the trailer we purchased two months prior, so that needed a good once over.
Once all was said and done, we slowly made our way to our first stop – Banff, AB. I just HAD to take Jacob to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I grew up always making a stop there to pick out some treats and I think that’s one of the best things a parent gets to pass on – little traditions/experiences that they loved growing up.
Next, we made our way to the main destination – Fairmont, BC. It was fantastic! Great weather, beautiful scenery, time with family and most important Ryan and I got to relax. I can’t thank all of Jacob’s cousins and his grandparents enough, because he loved spending time with them and mom & dad got to do a little of what they used to do…
Ryan went golfing and I slept.
As with any vacation, it’s not all sunshine and roses… There was an itty bitty mudslide and then a couple of days later a wind storm blew through our campground.
This is the tree next to my trailer/car after it fell on my neighbours truck.
This is my sister-in-law’s tent on the other side of us.
And this is the next trailer over from them.
We came home and were able to catch the tail end of Capital EX – an annual exhibition/fair here in Edmonton. Jacob had a blast on the rides, but surprisingly he said he was ready to get back to construction and hit up the large block building area.
Now that we’re all slowly getting back to our normal routines, I’ll recap with some more before photos and then wrap up with the after pictures in the next few days.

LOL you work barefoot…
glad no one was hurt by the trees
We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel too. I hope you post more photos of it. From what I can tell it is looking great! xxx Kristin
Thanks so much. You have some wonderful ideas in your blog. Now that I have a bit more time I can’t wait to read more about them.
